Additional surf and SUP apparel is on hand from major brands such as Rip Curl, Billabong, RVCA, Quiksilver, Roxy and more. There are also a variety of watersports lifestyle accessories and gifts, although visitors should make note to stock up on snacks elsewhere as the shop does not sell food or beverages. As their name suggests, WND&WVS is more than just a SUP shop and sells a selection of kite and windsurfing gear as well.

The shop is located in the South End Arts District of Burlington, Vermont with a primary customer base of water enthusiasts between the ages of 30-50 from around the country. The South End Arts District is a vibrant area filled with artist studios, local foodie restaurants and lots of micro breweries. If you are in the area, a must stop is the owner’s own restaurant,The Spot, which features farm to table cuisine with a laid back surf vibe.

The Local Paddling Scene

Lake Champlain plays host to two significant summer events for the local paddling community, the Burlington Paddle Festival and Stand Up for the Lake. Be sure to check the SUP Examiner Calendar for this year’s dates. Throughout the summer, WND&WVS hosts a race night each Wednesday. They also run a waterman retreat each season with shop team rider Chuck Patterson. There are additional opportunities to participate in preseason stroke clinics hosted by the shop and in association with the annual Stand Up for the Lake event.

Lake Champlain is a 490 square mile natural freshwater lake bordering Vermont, New York and Quebec. The lake is over 14 miles wide and is approximately 125 miles long. Due to its size, the range of conditions one can expect to experience on Lake Champlain resemble that of an ocean. Popular launch points around the area include Perkins Pier, Oakledge Park, the Coast Guard boat ramps, North Beach, Leddy Park and Shelburne Bay.
